WEBOct 14, 2014 · dxf can contain. 1)3d solids in these are in an embedded propitiatory format (this is the "forget it" that Shoogen is referring to) 2) 3d meshes. 3) most 2d geometry in dxf can optionally contain a z value...by default the z values are mostly missing in most dxf files and are assumed to be =0 when imported into FreeCAD.

WEBMar 26, 2023 · in fact fc completely relies on external libraries to parse a dwg file. if you cannot make it run within fc, then these are the two options at hand: a) run libredwg from command line to convert to dxf, and pray that fc handles the dxf properly. b) use LibreCAD to open the dwg and save as dxf. c) find an online converter to a fc-friendly format.
