Patent Drawings - newby question - FreeCAD Forum
WEBJul 27, 2016 · Patent drawings have really an "artistic" look, like they were drawn by hand. It is not easy to get this effect with a CAD program. I agree that if you don't intend to build a 3D model but only want to create 2D drawings, other software than FreeCAD will be more suited. Inkscape (a vector graphics program) could be a solution to add the shading.

It is a proprietary kernel and no open source software library exists to read .SAT (ACIS) data.

WEBMar 6, 2015 · In v0.14 we used a very buggy and hacky way to export Drawing pages to DXF. With the new 0.15 version, to be released in a few days, you will get much better results. In the meantime, a more reliable option is to use the Draft Shape2DView tool, and export the produced object to dxf.

WEBJan 11, 2021 · You have first to create 3D drawings and then import them into TechDraw which makes very good 2D drawings out of 3D objects. You can trick FreeCAD to do very good 2D drawings, by making 2D sketeches in 3D and importing them into TechDraw. Today, when doing simple 2D drawings, I use LibreOffice Draw, which is the best 2D drawing program I found.
