WOODLAND HILLS -A homeless individual is in custody following a reported arson attempt in Woodland Hills, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. At approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a radio call was placed reporting a person attempting to ignite a fire in the 21000 block of Ybarra Road,

The arrest occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Ybarra Road, just south of the fire’s origin, after local residents reportedly spotted the suspect attempting to ignite a blaze. The residents detained him until police arrived, with photos shared on the Citizen app showing officers surrounding the scene where the man was taken into custody.

The alleged arson was reported about 5 and a half miles from the approximate start of the Kenneth fire, near Victory Boulevard west of Gilmore Street in West Hills. Residents in the area found the person and held him down until police arrived, KTLA reported.
