Maserati might be thought of more as a luxury brand than a racing brand today, but for many, many years it built dedicated race cars, even competing in Formula 1 in the 1950s—its rivalry with Enzo Ferrari set up the first act in Michael Mann's Ferrari.

The MC20's turned-up sibling is lighter, more powerful, and faster—but something has been lost in translation.

When the 2025 Maserati GT2 Stradale arrives stateside in August it’ll cost $311,995, including the $1,995 destination fee. Maserati will only make 914 (honoring 1914, the year the automaker was founded).

Maserati's GT2 Stradale takes the MC20 up a notch—or maybe it's half a notch. The GT2 Stradale makes 631 horsepower from its Nettuno V-6. The regular MC20 gets 621. Changes to the bodywork for the GT2 Stradale also net considerably more downforce. The big rear wing contributes to the extra downforce.

It’s not hard to see why the Maserati GT2 Stradale was created. Back in 2020, Maserati – desperate for a showstopping halo car to spearhead its new generation of models – launched the MC20 and quickly realised it was onto a winner. Ballistically quick, easy on the eye and surprisingly usable, it pretty much had the lot.
