New Match of the Day host Kelly Cates says society still not fully comfortable with female sport presenters. The 49-year-old, who is also a Sky Sports presenter, was announced as a joint replacement for Gary Lineker today (15 January) alongside Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman.

Kelly Cates has a life-long association with football, she is the daughter of former Celtic and Liverpool manager Sir Kenny Dalglish. Born in Glasgow, she grew up in Southport, Merseyside with her brother and two sisters. Her brother Paul Dalglish was also a professional football player, who played for Newcastle United, Norwich City and Blackpool.
