Many of the cities within the county like Guntersville, Boaz, Albertville, Arab and Grant have been considered “wet” for many years. However, this county-wide amendment which voters read on the 2024 ballot declares that all communities, including unincorporated ones, will benefit from alcohol sales.
How Local Amendment 1 will affect the future of alcohol in Marshall County
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala (WHNT) — The presidential election is not the only big vote on the ballot in Marshall County this year. Voters will also decide if they want to expand access to alcohol sales across the county. There are two items listed as amendment one on the ballot, but it’s local amendment one that pertains to alcohol sales.
Marshall County ballot mistake impacts 63 early voters
One Marshall County voter caught a mistake that would have impacted the ballots of more than 300 voters in Precinct 7. As it is, 63 early voters in the precinct have the opportunity to vote on a Moundsville City Council ward race that was mistakenly left off the ballot.
Amendment passes to allow alcohol sales throughout Marshall County
There’s 31 places in Marshall County that the public votes, and out of those 31, all 31 voted for alcohol sales,” said Ronny Shumate. “There was none against.” That’s Amendment 1 supporter Ronny Shumate.
Marshall County votes to end dry status, allowing alcohol sales countywide
Amendment One, which appeared on the ballot, allowed voters to decide whether to keep Marshall County dry or permit alcohol sales countywide. The results showed that 73 percent of Marshall County voters supported allowing alcohol sales countywide.
