After a controversial project claiming to have resurrected the dire wolf, Colossal Biosciences has now announced plans to bring back nine species of the extinct moa bird

The announcement that New Zealand's moa nunui (giant moa) is the next "de-extinction" target for Colossal Biosciences, in partnership with Canterbury Museum, the Ngāi Tahu Research Center and filmmaker Peter Jackson,

“Some of those iconic species that feature in our tribal mythology, our storytelling, are very near and dear to us,” says Ngāi Tahu archaeologist Kyle Davis, who is working on the moa de-extinction project. “Participation in scientific research, species management, and conservation has been a large part of our activities.”
