Before he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Matthew Stafford was often criticized for his lack of team success in Detroit – particularly in the playoffs. With the Lions, he was 0-3 in the postseason with four touchdown passes and two interceptions.

Stafford led the way for the Rams in their "Monday Night Football" victory over the Minnesota Vikings, completing 19 of his 27 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns. The Rams led 24-3 at the half and never looked back as they secured the 27-9 victory to move on to the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.
