Penn State could have fallen prey to some of the issues they were facing Saturday afternoon in Beaver Stadium — like a UCLA quarterback with very little college tape or the fact star running back Nick Singleton was out with an injury.

Penn State’s defense held firm. A middle blitz forced an off-target throw from Martin, who couldn’t get on the same page as his tight end. UCLA turned it over to the Nittany Lions, who went on a seven-play, 65-yard field goal drive to all but seal it.

Despite playing without its leading rusher seventh-ranked Penn State wore down UCLA in a 27-11 victory Saturday afternoon at Beaver Stadium.
