Wildfire near Lake Piru reaches nearly 5,400 acres; containment inches up
A fast-moving wildfire that ignited in a canyon southeast of Lake Piru had burned more than 5,370 acres and prompted evacuations in Ventura and Los Angeles counties. The fire was reported shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 in the 6700 block of Holser Canyon Road near Piru and quickly threatened ranches and other properties in the area.
