A 5-year-old child is recovering after a coyote attack in the Maplewood Heights neighborhood of Renton, according to the WDFW.

The coyote tried to drag the boy toward a greenbelt area before the child's mother rushed at it, according to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) said officers responded to a report of a human-coyote encounter in which the coyote bit the child in the upper body, pulled him to the ground, and attempted to drag him away.
