BOSTON — The Red Sox lost some first base depth Friday as Ryan Noda was claimed off waivers by the White Sox. Boston designated Noda, a 29-year-old first baseman/outfielder, for assignment Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for top prospect Roman Anthony.

Anthony came up with runners on second and third in the first inning and drove the ball to left to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead.
