San Diego County reports first hantavirus case of 2025 in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — San Diego County officials announced Monday that a deer mouse collected in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park has tested positive for hantavirus. The mouse, found on Jan. 3, 2025, marks the county's first case of hantavirus this year. In 2024, officials reported 25 cases of the potentially deadly virus in wild rodents.
