A winter storm is expected to bring three to five inches of snow to Long Island from Sunday into Monday, when many people will be off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The snow forecast may be somewhat up in the air, but one thing is for sure: Any snow that falls will not be melting next week.

Long Island is expected to receive 2 to 5 inches of snow, and possibly more, on Sunday, with an arctic air mass arriving next week, the National Weather Service said.
