And there are still more meteor showers left between now and New Year's, with at least one fireball event happeni

Fireball activity is expected to peak Monday and Tuesday night as Earth passes through a stream of comet debris.

While the Southern Taurids already hit their peak last week, the Northern Taurids, active Oct. 13-Dec. 2 will be at their best Monday and Tuesday.

The North and South Taurids occur every year in September, October, and November. They may have originated from a comet that broke up about 10,000 years ago.

Pennsylvania stargazers will get a chance to see another meteor shower this week - the Northern Taurids Meteor Shower.

November brings sky watchers brilliant views, with the Northern Taurids and Leonid meteor showers peaking this week and a full supermoon in between.

WASHINGTON — The Northern Taurids will peak this week, producing bright flashes across the night skies. The meteor showers will reach their zenith early Tuesday morning and come just a week after the Southern Taurids peaked.

Another astronomical event could be visible in the coming nights as the second branch of the Taurid meteor shower reaches its peak.
