Residents were woken up by the smell of gas which they said extended miles away. The Fire Department confirmed that five people were injured, all minor injuries. Two refused medical attention, while the rest were taken to Montefiore Medical Center.

Five people were treated, three hospitalized, after a gas line ruptured Sunday morning in Bedford Park, prompting evacuations and street closures, officials said.

The FDNY, Con Edison, and the NYPD repaired a gas main that ruptured in the Bronx on Sunday morning. Officials got the call around 9:40 a.m. after reports of fumes and gas odors on Bedford Park Boulevard between Decatur Avenue and Webster Avenue.
