Northern Cebu could experience Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 if Typhoon Pepito’s track deviates southward from its current forecast path, the chief of the local weather bureau based in Mactan said on Friday.

Typhoon Pepito continues to pick up strength as it moves west northwestward over the Philippine Sea, PAGASA said in its 2 a.m. weather bulletin.

Wind signals have been raised in more areas as Typhoon Pepito rapidly intensifies, according to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. cyclone bulletin. Pepito was last seen 465 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h and gustiness of up to 185 km/h.
