Tyla turned heads on the red carpet at the 2024 MTV EMAs as she recreated Aaliyah’s iconic animal print look from the 2000 MTV VMAs. The South African singer wore the blue version of the Roberto Cavalli dress that Aaliyah wore 24 years ago,

Tyla was conferred with sophistication and glamour at birth and has, therefore, never sought out the British delicacy that is sausage, cheese, and bean melt. “There’s a lot of sausages here,” the pop star said at last night's 2024 MTV EMAs.

On Sunday evening, Tyla attended the MTV Europe Music Awards (the network’s European answer to the VMAs) in a Cavalli design that originated on the fall 2000 runway. That same year, Aaliyah turned up to the VMAs in a neon yellow iteration.

Tyla took home quite a few accolades at the 2024 MTV European Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 10), where she also paid homage to Aaliyah. The “Truth or Dare” artist attended the event in a teal blue iteration of the Roberto Cavalli gown that the late R&B singer wore to the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

Much like Maya Jama, who stunned on the EMAs red carpet in a vintage Versace ensemble, Tyla turned to the archives and rocked a vintage Robert Cavalli dress in turquoise zebra print, which featured a huuuuge side split that was trimmed with fur.
