Several passengers have been left stranded after airlines from various countries, including IndiGo, Air India cancelled flights to and from the Indonesian resort island of Bali after a nearby volcano catapulted an ash tower miles into the sky.

An official said Air India has cancelled its Bali flight. It operates a flight every day from Delhi to the Indonesian island.

This volcanic activity has led to the formation of ash clouds as high as 10 km (32,808 ft) over the region, creating potential hazards for air travel.
