A teenager in Wisconsin who allegedly killed his mom told authorities he had concocted the plan after watching the The Menendez Brothers Netflix documentary.

Reed Gelinskey, 15, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide on March 6, 2025. The teen faces life imprisonment for the murder of his mother, identified in court documents as “SG.” Wisconsin-based NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV has identified her as Suzanne Gelinskey.

The brothers went on spending sprees, buying Rolex watches, cars and houses. Two months later, Erik Menendez told his psychologist, Jerome Oziel, that he and his brother killed their parents. They were eventually arrested and charged in their parents’ deaths.
