The six preseason No. 1s are American Fork (6A), Olympus (5A), Provo (4A), Morgan (3A), Kanab (2A) and Panguitch (1A). Olympus, Morgan, Kanab and Panguitch are all defending state champions. Davis was last year’s 6A state champ, and it checks in at No. 2 in the preseason rankings.

Cleveland South legend Jonathan Burge makes his high school coaching debut at Andrews Osborne Academy, which has the talent to make a big splash in Division VI.

Former Hart High pitcher Tyler Glasnow followed former Harvard-Westlake pitcher Jack Flaherty in coming to the Dodgers and becoming a world champion by contributing on the mound during the World Series. Glasnow was injured during last year’s World Series but finally came through for his home-town team.

Tyy2.0: The most surprising player on my roster is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He’s currently ranked No. 2 in points per game (32.8) in the NBA and has been carrying my fantasy team.

Lone Peak looks to tie the state record — and first by a large school — with a fifth straight 6A state championship, while Bountiful and Ridgeline are chasing 4-peats. Including Lone Peak, only five programs in state history have ever won four consecutive state championships.
