The NFL announced today that the 49ers and Rams will play in Melbourne, Australia, during the 2026 season, and 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey isn’t sure that’s such a good idea.

This much we know, the Green Bay Packers will not play in Australia this season.

The league had announced last year that it will be playing a game in 2026 in Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a venue that holds about 100,000 spectators.

The San Francisco 49ers are in their offseason, but Kyle Shanahan and Fred Warner will be taking a break from that. On Feb. 4, NBC Sports announced that the Niners’ head coach and linebacker will serve as analysts for the Super Bowl LX pregame show.
