The bad news is it's going to stay cold and windy. The good news is Thursday's storm will likely either graze Massachusetts or miss entirely.

Powerful winds blasted freezing air across New England on Monday and are expected to continue, with high wind advisories remaining through Tuesday throughout Massachusetts and other states. Gusts were reported up to 68 miles per hour in central Massachusetts west of Marlboro as of Monday afternoon,

There were thousands of power outages reported across the state, as well as dozens of flight delays or cancellations at Logan Airport.

Several inches of snow coated areas throughout Massachusetts from a storm Saturday night into Sunday. The storm also caused snow emergency parking bans to be instituted and churches to cancel their services.

According to the latest NWS forecast, snow is expected to hit Massachusetts on Thursday. It's likely that it will start in the evening hours and go into overnight, with the possibility of lingering into Friday morning, Tarasiewicz said.

"How much snow is actually on the ground by the time the event ends is still kind of a big question mark, since there could be some melting as we change over from snow to rain on Saturday night to Sunday morning," said Robert Megnia, a NWS meteorologist.
