A "bomb cyclone" swept across the northwest U.S., knocking down trees, causing widespread power outages and leaving at least one person dead.

A bomb cyclone and an atmospheric river will continue lashing the Pacific Northwest with severe weather conditions, the National Weather Service said.

These winds are likely to produce numerous power outages and tree damage in the most impact regions,” the National Weather Service said.

At least one person was killed and 2 people were injured by falling trees in Washington Tuesday night, as an atmospheric river carried strong winds into the Pacific Northwest, knocking out power to many.
