The update, which is now available to all users, includes a beta version of cloud streaming support for the Portal. This means if you pay for PlayStation Plus Premium you'll be able to access PS5 games in the catalogue on your Portal device — without having to own a PS5 or lug around your console. (Notably, PS4 and PS3 games are not supported.)

But the PlayStation Portal won’t stream any PS4 or PS3 games, nor any PS5 game you bought from the PlayStation Store.

Just like on PS5, Portal owners will also need to be PS Plus Premium subscribers to take advantage of cloud streaming, which is rolling out in today's firmware update. Players will have access to over 120 games via cloud streaming, including Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Monster Hunter Rise, and much more.

Sony is publishing a PlayStation Portal update that will allow PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to utilize cloud technology to stream their games on the go – even if they don’t have a PlayStation 5.

PS Portal's cloud streaming feature has launched in beta, opening up access to over 120 PS5 games included in PS Plus Premium Game Catalog. This includes many first-party Sony games like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ghost of Tsushima and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Sony launched the PlayStation Portal remote player last year with the aim of delivering a console-quality gaming experience on a handheld device. Now, Sony is releasing a new software update for the PS Portal that will introduce enhancements in the audio experience for gamers.
