Surveillance video has helped Everett police arrest a 26-year-old transient man accused of setting a fire in the 1900 block of Lombard Street early Wednesday morning. Joseph Smiley now faces charges of arson after a fire completely destroyed a home and caused extensive damage to neighboring properties.

Ancient stone tools that were discovered in the Tunel Wielki cave in Poland around 50 years ago have been re-examined and dated. Instead of belonging to Neanderthals living in the region these tools are now considered to be much older and were most likely created and used by a completely different extinct human species.
