Chhaya Kadam has reacted to the backlash on social media to her other film All We Imagine As Light not being selected as India's official entry for Oscar 2025.

"The jury has to look at the right film that represents India on all fronts. Particularly, the film has to represent India’s social systems and ethos. The Indianness is very important, and Laapataa Ladies scored on that front.

Laapataa Ladies, helmed by Kiran Rao and bankrolled by Aamir Khan, has been selected as India's official entry for Oscars 2025. Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan, who plays a key role in the film, exclusively spoke to Zoom and reacted to the update.

As her film Laapataa Ladies has been chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars 2025 in the Best Foreign Film Category by the Film Federation of India, filmmaker Kiran Rao expressed her gratitude and said that it was a great privilege to be selected from among such amazing Indian films this year.
