Providence Fire, corn oil storage tank
Large tank fire in Providence has fire departments from around the state responding
A significant force of firefighters has moved into place as a large fire broke out inside a corn oil tank in Providence off Terminal Road. So far, mutual aid from Cranston, Johnston and North Smithfield are on route to the scene.
Corn oil storage tank catches fire in Providence
Providence Fire Chief Derek Silva said the tank off Terminal Road caught fire Thursday afternoon and has roughly 3,000 gallons of corn oil inside of it. Silva said the fire has not spread beyond the tank and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
