Volkswagen has announced AI as the newest co-pilot in some of the automaker's products starting in Q2 of this year. The German brand partnered with U.S.
Volkswagen will launch cars with ChatGPT-powered assistants by mid-2024, allowing drivers and passengers to toggle functionalities such as navigation and temperature control through voice commands.
Many of the latest VW cars have a built-in AI known as IDA. This allows drivers to use voice commands to control things like the navigation system, climate control, and infotainment services.
Passengers can adjust the temperature with illuminated touch sliders beneath the screen or use the "Hey Volkswagen" voice commands with natural language recognition.
Currently, the VW Ida assistant can accept voice commands with the "Hey, Ida" voice trigger for functions such as choosing a destination for navigation or adjusting the climate controls.
