UFC president Dana White has landed a surprising new role outside the octagon. In an unsuspecting move, Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, will be adding a new board of directors member. That member is none other than White, marking a significant shift from his established career in mixed martial arts.

Last night, Meta confirmed in a statement that three new members had been elected to its board of directors. UFC boss Dana White was the most prominent name, joining Charlie Songhurst and John Elkann.

Mr. White, a close ally of President-elect Donald J. Trump, further strengthens the social media giant’s connections with the incoming administration.
