Veteran forward Brandon Saad has just become a free agent, and now reports are surfacing that the team will be meeting with Saad to discuss a contract tomorrow.

Saad would've made $5.4 million had he reported to the Blues' AHL affiliate. Instead, he's walking away from it to become an NHL free agent.

Saad will have his contract with the St. Louis Blues terminated within the next 48 hours. Once he clears unconditional waivers at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, which is a formality, the mutual termination of Saad’s existing contract will leave him free to sign with any team he chooses.
