A Montana dad has died after falling from a chairlift at a local ski resort. Authorities said Jeffrey Zinne of Billings was alone on a ski lift at Red Lodge Mountain just before noon on Monday, March 10, when he fell to the ground, according to the Associated Press and Longview News-Journal .

Jeffrey Zinne, 37, was riding alone in a three-person chair that carries skiers up the mountain when he fell from an unspecified height.

LiftBlog has confirmed that the Triple Chair does not have a safety restraint bar. The chair was built in 1983 and will remain closed while under investigation following the accident. The ski area's old Miami Beach Chair (as seen in the featured image above) did not have a safety bar either.
