The NFL's 32 teams combined to make 18 midseason trades this year, but there's one thing they didn't do: None of those trades involved a first-round pick.

The Lions have leaned on a variety of players to make up for the absence of Hutchinson, including Levi Onwuzurike, James Houston and Josh Paschal, but none of them has been an every-down player like Hutchinson was. Adding Smith gives Detroit another player to add to that rotation.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m. In the last 10 years, the Miami Dolphins have made nine deadline deals. The Dolphins have added: Chase Claypool, Bradley Chubb, Jeff Wilson, DeAndre Washington, Aqib Talib.
