The Trump administration may deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda after he rejected a last-minute deal to remain in jail, plead guilty to human smuggling charges and be deported to Costa Rica, a legal notice filed Saturday by his attorneys said.

The Trump administration deported Abrego Garcia in March, accusing the Salvadoran national of being a MS-13 gang member — a label he and his attorneys have rejected — and sent him to a brutal Salvadoran megaprison, where he was jailed for nearly one month.

The El Salvador-born migrant was ordered to report to ICE custody on Monday, and could be deported to Uganda in the future.
