Mourners warmly applauded as Denis Law's coffin was taken out of the cathedral. The song Angel by Rod Stewart, which Law and the Scotland World Cup squad of 1974 recorded a version of with the rock singer, was also played, as the service reaches its final stages.

The funeral of Manchester United icon Denis Law has taken place, before a congregation of family, friends, club legends and peers from across the football world.

Law supported Aberdeen and watched them when he had enough money to do so, watching local non-league teams when he did not. His obsession with football led to him turning down a place at A berdeen Grammar School, because he would have had to play r ugby there; instead, he attended Powis Acadamy in Aberdeen.
