Sunday is a First Alert Weather Day. We will watch for an isolated storm potential ahead of a big push of Arctic air.

Far southern Kentucky will see precipitation switch over to rain for a while Sunday night. The entire region ends with snow on Monday with accumulations likely with that across central and eastern Kentucky. Bitterly cold temps come in behind the snow as temps make a run at zero or below by Wednesday and Thursday.

This afternoon will be seasonable with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s with good sunshine.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued for much of Kentucky Sunday and Monday. Our Winter Storm THREAT continues for Sunday and Monday as a significant ice and snow event targets our region. This will cause all kinds of issues and will be followed by bitterly cold temps.

Hence, a First Alert has been issued for both days. Morning lows starting Monday through the rest of the week will be freezing, quite literally. Now is the time to winterize your home and make a plan to bring plants and pets indoors.

The first Monday of 2025 could feature some slippery/icy conditions thanks to winter precipitation and below-freezing temperatures. A stretch of below-average temperatures begins this weekend and continues through at least mid-January.
