Maruti Suzuki said on Friday it will install fast charging points in India's top 100 cities - one every 5 to 10 kilometers, and consider launching a battery rental service as it seeks to address infrastructure and cost challenges deterring consumers from buying electric cars.

Maruti Suzuki plans to become India's leading EV producer within a year, with production of the eVITARA starting in spring at its Gujarat plant. The company aims to export the model to over 100 countries.

India is set to become the global manufacturing base of Maruti Suzuki's first global battery electric vehicle, while contributing towards the vision of 'Make in India'. The automobile firm launched its first electric four wheeler, E-vitara on Friday at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, 2025.
