The selection of Jalen Hurts as Super Bowl LIX MVP was hardly a surprise in the wake of the Eagles 40-22 bludgeoning of the Chiefs on Sunday night. We've seen time and time again the quarterback pull in the hardware in these situations and not just because of the importance of the position.

Philadelphia Eagles star pass-rusher Josh Sweat knows he was a worthy candidate for Super Bowl LIX MVP. He stole the show as the Eagles' defense stymied the Kansas City Chiefs' offense, forcing six total sacks and three turnovers on Patrick Mahomes.

In fan voting on NFL.com for the Super Bowl’s MVP, DeJean was the No. 1 choice, and that was considered in selecting the award winner. The fan voting counted 20 percent toward choosing the Super Bowl MVP. But all of that didn’t go in support of DeJean.

Hurts also threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown late in the first half and scored on a 1-yard tush push for the first score of the game, leading to a statistical performance achieved only by Hall of Famer Joe Montana in Super Bowl history.
