LAS VEGAS – Kon Knueppel and KJ Simpson tallied 19 points each to lead the Charlotte Hornets to a 106-81 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA 2K26 Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Thursday evening.

As the NBA Summer League winds down in Las Vegas, we inch closer to Saturday's conclusion and the playoffs from the UNLV campus, Thomas and Mack Arena, and Cox Pavilion.

Second week of NBA Summer League has been breezing by, but that doesn't mean we haven't gotten plenty of performances to write home about.

Jack McVeigh led the Hawks with 20 points. Kobe Bufkin and rookie first-round pick Asa Newell contributed matching 14-point, two-assist tallies while pulling down six and eight rebounds, respectively. Newell added two steals and two blocks. Kobe Johnson furnished 12 points, four boards and two assists.

Eyes will be on No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg and his Dallas Mavericks this July as his highly anticipated professional career begins. Flagg & Co. kicked off their summer league slate with a high-profile 87-85 win over a Los Angeles Lakers squad that features Bronny James.

While Flagg looked good with the ball in his hands, he looked better playing off it, and that will be more of his role in Dallas where D’Angelo Russell in the short term and Kyrie Irving long term (once healthy), not to mention Anthony Davis, will facilitate the offense most of the time.

Just under a week into this year's NBA Las Vegas Summer League, and we already have a handful of clear winners and losers from the action.

Bleary-eyed executives have barely had a chance to turn the page on the 2025 NBA draft class. Still, they are already moving full throttle into the next draft cycle, with a busy summer in store headlined by FIBA tournaments, grassroots events, sneaker company camps and college practices.
