Acting police minister Firoz Cachalia has confirmed that the SANDF will be deployed to gang hotspots in the Western Cape within the next 10 days.

Chief Director for Price Statistics at Stats SA, Patrick Kelly, said the downward pressure is thanks to a sharp decline in fuel prices, while food inflation was steady for the third consecutive month.

The houses are in R293 townships, which refer to residential areas in former Bantustans established under the previous dispensation.

The 26-year-old, who was convicted of the rape and murder of four-year-old Nada Jane Challita, is currently submitting evidence as part of her sentence mitigation proceedings.
