Most U.S. stocks rose Tuesday following an encouraging update on inflation, though drops for Eli Lilly and other influential stocks kept indexes in check. The S&P 500 rose 0.1% as three out of every four stocks in the index climbed.

BMO Capital Markets forecasts the S&P 500 will reach 6,700, reflecting a gain of 13.2%. Chief investment strategist Brian Belski said he and his team "remain resolutely bullish," but expect "performance and fundamentals will more closely match the historical norms -- namely, in the high-single digit/low-double-digit percentage range in 2025."

Wall Street pointed modestly higher early Tuesday ahead of new data on inflation and the kickoff to earnings season. Futures for the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average each ticked up 0.3% before the bell.

Shares of Walt Disney Co. DIS inched 0.04% higher to $108.12 Tuesday, on what proved to be an all-around favorable trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index SPX rising 0.11% to 5,842.

Despite the stock's challenges, Disney still looks like a long-term buy. However, there are signs that the company could be headed to higher ground as it seems to be nearly done with the transition. It just forged a deal to merge Hulu+Live TV with FuboTV,
