Former Augusta commissioner John Clarke has suffered a heart attack, according to Commissioner Catherine Smith-Rice.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has confirmed a hunter-harvested deer has tested positive for chronic wasting disease, the first case in Georgia.

The goal is to decide whether to opt in or out of new Georgia law by the last Augusta Commission meeting in February, which is ahead of the March 1 deadline to decide.

Before any changes happen, some Augusta commissioners want to make sure any concerns from residents are heard.
