Hugh Freeze's tenure as Auburn's head coach got off to a 6-7 start last year. For most first-year coaches getting to a bowl game in your first season is a solid start, but in the SEC it's enough to land you on the hot seat.

Trent Dilfer was hardly surprised when his old quarterback, Hank Brown, made a mostly pristine starting debut for Auburn, avoiding blunders even during stretches where heavy rain was falling. The former NFL quarterback feels it’s one of Brown’s greatest assets: The poise to weigh risk versus reward and avoid costly mistakes.
