A 17-year-old was shot and killed in Newport News Tuesday morning. Officers responded at about 7 a.m. to the scene Jefferson Avenue and Gloucester Drive after an alert from ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system. At the scene, emergency services found the teen, and he later died at the hospital.
