With the help of countless resources from across county and state lines, first responders in Unicoi County have been able to find a majority of the 33 people who were unaccounted for the afternoon of Sept. 28, Erwin Police Chief Regan Tilson told Knox News.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) listed 62 people missing in Washington County and 47 in Unicoi County in its latest update early Sunday evening — though authorities believe many of those people are safe and just unreachable by phone.

Families in Unicoi County are desperate for the safe return of missing loved ones. Over 25 agencies are working with the incident command set up at Unicoi County Middle School to help clean up debris and locate people still missing.
