Another weekend winter storm is approaching which will bring snow, and dangerous icy conditions to Massachusetts.

Moisture feeding from the south will bring first snow and then a changeover to freezing rain and all rain across New England. This slow-moving storm could result in sizable snow, ice and rainfall totals, making it potentially the most impactful storm so far this winter.

Snow showers will continue through Tuesday, particularly in lake-effect prone areas. Temperatures will remain well below normal, with highs only in the low teens and overnight lows falling below zero in some locations. Winds will gradually weaken by Wednesday, providing some relief from the bitter wind chills.

A winter storm headed for Vermont on Saturday and Sunday could drop as much as 10 inches of snow across the state, during one of the biggest weekends of the year for ski areas.

Tuesday’s overnight storm dropped 8 inches of snow in Galloway in Atlantic County and 7.8 inches in Cape May, the weather service said. There were widespread totals of 6 inches or more in Atlantic County and lighter snow accumulations in central and northern New Jersey.
