Less than a week after announcing that it would replace local weathercasters at its local TV stations, Allen Media Group decided on Thursday to scrap its plans after viewer outcry.

As the week began, the Byron Allen-controlled AMG heralded a "groundbreaking" initiative and "innovative partnership" that would have yielded production of all local newscasts' weather segments to The Weather Channel.

Allen Media Broadcasting, the company run by media mogul Byron Allen that owns WAAY in Huntsville and WCOV in Montgomery, announced Monday it planned on having The Weather Channel’s studios handle local weather.

As part of the Allen Media Group owned by media personality Byron Allen, AMB owns and operates 28 TV stations nationwide, covering all four commercial networks.
