The decades-long mystery surrounding the murder of Tupac Shakur was seemingly on the verge of resolution with the 2023 arrest of reputed Southside Crip Duane “Keefe D” Davis. However, the trial is now facing a significant delay due to newly presented evidence that could alter the case’s trajectory.

Davis, a former gang leader, has publicly spoken about Tupac’s murder multiple times, including in his 2019 book Compton Street Legend. While prosecutors have pointed to his book as evidence, his attorneys argue that it was co-authored and that his exact statements remain unclear.

Attorneys for Duane “Keffe D” Davis filed a motion Friday in a Nevada court, stating that Davis’ defense has identified witnesses who can testify that he was not present at the shooting, despite his alleged self-implication in his memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” KSNV reported.

Keefe D will still stand trial in April of this year, though, based on a separate incident which occurred last year while he was incarcerated.
