Microsoft’s Majorana 1 chip employs advanced topological qubits that shield quantum information from disturbances and reduce errors, offering a promising path toward scalable, reliable quantum computing.

The processor uses qubits that can be measured without error and are resistant to outside interference, which the company says marks a “transformative leap toward practical quantum computing.”

On February 19, in an official announcement Microsoft introduced Majorana 1. This is the world’s first Quantum Processing Unit (QPU) powered by a Topological Core, designed to scale to a million qubits on a single chip.
