The death toll from Saturday’s petrol tanker explosion in Niger State has risen to 98, with 69 people injured and 20 shops completely destroyed, according to the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA).

Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, Secondary, and Tertiary, Senator Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has urged motorists to exercise caution and avoid reckless driving. The lawmaker said this in her condolence message to the government and people of Niger State following the tanker explosion the led to death of scores of residents.
